I've found a new job, but...

I don't mean to brag, I know that a lot of you are looking for jobs and having trouble finding it.

I'll be starting a new job in September. And so many things are going thought my mind I don't even know how to express them. I'll be working for a HUGE company, I mean really huge. I am going to have a ton os perks that I didn't had before, like free gym or health insurance. It new functions, doing something completely different from what I've been doing, that I've never done before. I should be super excited right?
As I write this post, I'm heading to my future office to sign a no term contract. This means that if I want I can work there for the rest of my days. But I need to stay there for at least two and a half years. It's good! I mean, it's great! And I know a lot of people that are so desperate to get a job thay they would kill for this opportunity. This means financial security!
But I have so many doubts in my head. What if I don't like the poeple or the job?  What if I suck at it? I don't want to be miserable for the next two years, working day and night, and not be happy about what I am doing.
I have given a lot of thought into this. And I know I have to take this opportunity. But I am so afraid of the unknown! That's what scares me the most. Not knowing what the future holds and having to commit to it for the next two and a half years.

What do you guys think? What would you do?

  4. You need to embrace the unknown, not be afraid of it! Maybe you are actually afraid of changes and you think you aren't ready for something new in your life but you actually never know if you don't try it, right? I really wish you good luck and I hope you'll like the people and the job! xoxo

  6. You said so yourself, it's a great company, great opportunity, you're going to have perks that you've never had before, don't let that slip away. You'll be fine.
You may not like ALL the people from there, but you will like most of them.
Don't start with the thought that you won't be good, you will be good, that's why they hired you, because they thought you were the best candidate out of everybody.

Good luck with your new job. :)

  8. The unknown can certainly be intimidating. I think you should go with your gut feeling and weigh the pros and cons. If there's more good than bad, perhaps it's worth trying. Two years will pass very quickly and at the very least you'll have experience under your belt.

Beijinhos

  30. I just went through similar incident. Two months earlier I went to Qatar to work for a good company. Salary and benefits were good but due to social life and climate, I didn't liked to make career there. Then I came back to my country and continued my old work.

  39. Me, I would give it a go, 2 years is nothing when it comes to commitment but it's good enough for financial security. The company has seen something in you that's why they offered you the position so maybe you will belong in there. On the other hand, if you won't take it you will be full of questions later what if you did. But that's for me. Pray for guidance.
I'm following you now in GFC, I hope you can follow back. Wishing you the best.

:) Beijinhos!
